Dr Benjamin Speedy – Sport and exercise physician
Dr Benjamin Speedy completed his medical degree at the University of Auckland in 1984. After some years as a family practitioner Benjamin retrained in sport and exercise medicine. He has been a Fellow of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians since 1999, and is vocationally registered as a specialist in sport and exercise medicine. Benjamin has also been awarded a Fellowship of the American College of Sports Medicine, and has a Masters degree in Sports Medicine from Trinity College Dublin. He is internationally recognised for his research into fluids in ultra-distance exercise, and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree for this work in 2002 by the University of Auckland.

Benjamin was the Chief Medical Officer for the New Zealand Olympic team to Athens in 2004 and the New Zealand Paralympic Team to Sydney in 2000. In addition he has been team physician to the Tall Blacks, Silver Ferns, Breakers, and Team Prada and Le Defi Americas Cup teams.

Benjamin is in full time practice as a sport and exercise physician in Auckland with clinics in Karaka, Manukau and Greenlane.
